As we are getting closer to our Christmas celebration, we get busier with many ideas. Making our own snow globes has been proposed by Felix. During our storytelling, Felix questions what a snow globe is all about. We take his wondering as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Art)-based learning opportunity to explore with interesting materials. ![]() We gather materials to include in our snow globes. The small objects and recycled materials will be used to create the scene that is placed inside the snow globe. We further test to see if the objects fit by screwing the globe onto the lid with the objects placed on the lid. Making them enables us with our executive function skills, including reading and following directions, planning and organizing an experience, and engaging working memory. We believe exploring sound by listening, making sounds and playing with different volumes, echoes, pitches, melodies and rhythms boost our confidence as well as happiness. As part of Christmas celebration, we learn various Christmas songs. We think singing has the powerful sense of togetherness in a fun and meaningful way. There are many ways that we can play with sound. Of course, we can listen to music. We can dance to music. but we can also make our own music, and if we do not have access to musical instruments, we can actually create our own music through our voice. Throughout the process of exploring our own voice going high, going low, going loud, going soft, so looking at extremes of sound is really interesting. This way we develop awareness through play and hands-on experiences. We love to work with loose parts which encourage us to think creatively and engage our senses. Intertwining loose parts and recycled materials to be upcycled is one of the many ideas we include to work on during this week. ![]() Fides manage to make his hamster’s house by using various objects such as sticks and pom-pom. It’s always wonderful to see how we use our creativity to make something meaningful. Learning about the concept of giving, Nora makes it visible for others to comprehend when she presents her creation, as a gift, to Emily. We believe that giving a present is a way of showing thoughtfulness, love and affection. We pause ourselves to think back again about making a present for someone. Everyone has different ideas. Felix is very consistent with his idea on slime and gingerbread cookies. In line with our value of promoting sustainability, we collect various natural materials to upcycle or creative reuse as an act to take something no longer in use and giving it a second life and function. Emily and Nora look closely at the evergreen leaves as we tie them together onto the branches. There is nothing we love more than the fresh smell of pine and cedar this time of year. The textures and character of these plant are so beautiful and special. Finally, here comes our very own garland! At this opportunity, we would like to thank you for making time to be together for our Christmas celebration! Sharing food, our laughter, stories, and time together is indeed our precious and treasurable memory. Kindest,
Children & Friends.
