Preserving our moments of stillness from our butterfly is indeed worthwhile. We observe how our caterpillars have formed the ‘J’ shape. It informs us they are ready to pupate. At this stage, the butterflies behave differently from the previous stage - when they were very active by keep on moving and munching their food. We are thrilled when we see some butterflies physical characteristics on our storybook A Butterfly Is Patient by Dianna Hutts Aston. During our group reading, we figure out that sometimes butterflies’ attractive and intense colours are meant to protect themselves from harm. And another important message from our journey with the butterfly is being patient with the whole process of transformation. We further work on our interests in flexing our creative muscles; there are so many beautiful ways that we can design and colour them. Working with coffee filter butterfly is one of our many ways. Emily is seen to be exploring the butterfly's wings. She becomes aware of the delicate aspect of her new friend. Every touch has to be gentle and careful, as if she is handling a fragile treasure. Emily witnesses the amazing process of transforming a caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly. Gently she let her butterfly flight. Lukah expresses his joy by creating drawings on his painting for his mom. This day is special. He is making a gift for his mom. It is not just an ordinary gift, it is an expression of love, full of colour and creativity with his friends. Even before we are born we get to know the sound of our mothers' voice which makes us feel of being wrapped up in our mothers' love. Yes, we do feel love. Even though it will be quite a while before we are able to verbalize our feelings, we can and do understand emotional attachment. Dr. Luby adds researchers think it's due to greater plasticity in the brain, when we are younger the brain is affected more by experiences very early in life. This a result of the group. We are excited being around a blank canvas, brush our hands onto it and smiles are lighting up our faces. It is the special day of Mother's day, and we are ready to create something truly unique and special to honor all moms. With bubbling enthusiasm, each child shares his or her own ideas how we like to do it. Vivaan expresses that he is using his favorite colour. When asked why not the favorite color of his mom, he replies because is my gift and I want to give her my favorite colour. Lukah proposes to print his hand on it. and Margo follows him.
