Fides exhibits care toward our blueberry plant by using a watering jug. His action is to ensure our growing fruits get adequate water. By being taken care of, we are hopeful the blueberry plant thrives and produces healthy fruits. We take an opportunity to test out what happens to a bunch of the ends of spring onions when we put them in water containers? After a few days and weeks we start noticing each one grows roots. The roots are so tangled, Emily shares her observation. We too notice the green shoots emerge from the top of the bulbs. Yay! It's time for us to transfer to the pots filled with soil. By engaging ourselves in the process of planting, caring for, and observing spring onions, we not only learn about plant growth but also foster a deeper appreciation for nature and where our food comes from. The next one is to try with the stem end of the lettuce. Whenever the weather allows us to spend a longer time outside, we love to jump into this opportunity to learn skills of playing a basketball game. This includes dribbling, passing, and shooting the ball. Margo tries dribbling the basketball with two hands initially. After a short while it is observed that Margo puts effortful attempts to keep the ball going up and down. This technique requires control and speed while having fun! Sometimes it is not easy for us to remember not to run with the ball. Passing a ball to a friend to receive creates as a metaphor in communication skills. Nora takes charge to record the scores. In this way Nora takes a chance to practice her writing skills of letters (i.e. initials of our names) and numbers. She too builds up her understanding on the concept of addition for she understands when another shoot is successful, then the point increases. When the summer heat is getting too intense, we make another plan to have close encounters with water-based experiences. One in the coming weeks is for us to go to the beach. We offer ourselves to explore the possibilities of water and its beauty through art experiences. ![]() We engage un-fringed ends of cylindrical tubes to be our paint brushes. Now we let the fun begin! Our creative mind invites us to even paint the tubes toward the end. Some of us call them either octopus or fireworks. As part of enjoying summer experiences we include watching a movie, related to the storybooks we have read, on every Friday. Book-to-film adaptations require us to read the books first to have the opportunity to exercise our imaginations and visualize the images before seeing the movie. Kindest,
Children & Friends.
