What's there to enjoy our collection of beautiful summer fruits like granny smith apples than appreciating its beauty through our sense of taste.  The moment is being baked the aroma of our delicious apple crumble lingers around from the kitchen to our sense of smell. It is interesting how a baking learning experience involves all our senses in a fun way!
We are doing team work - Nora. Margo adds, teamwork! Right, teamwork! While baking in a group, we learn to work together, and communicate
Fides shares: All the trees fall and still down and make fire. It provides us a rich opportunity to explore Fides' understanding and perceptions about the relationship between heat, trees, and wildfire as part of our learning on what is a climate change all about?.

When we try to understand as much of the issues or challenges, we brainstorm by listening to each other's voices. Being posed by a question, What shall we think of ongoing issue of wildfire? we bring our brilliant ideas!

We put down our ideas onto our drawings. During the experience we visualize and communicate more ideas in an collaborative way. In other words, we are working together to develop a shared vision.
Being imaginative on a possible and workable solution on a movement concept of a tornado, Margo invites us to delve into her idea. She shares, This is a water tornado to spread water on the trees which are on fire!

For every problem we discuss, we try to counter with a solution. We explore with friends examples of people who are working on ways to address climate change. One of the many possible resources is a storybook Dear Earth ...From Your Friends in Room 5 by Erin Dealey and illustrated by Luisa Uribe. The story highlights when the kids in Room 5 write to Earth asking what they can do to help save our planet, they are delighted to get a letter back. This beautiful picture book is a celebration of every child's ability to connect with the environment and make a positive impact.
We are using an imaginative solution that reflects our concern for the environment and how we can protect it. We talk about what steps we are taking as a family, such as reducing waste in our home, saving water, recycling, or switching off unused lights and appliances. This helps to reinforce the idea that each one of us can do something help address climate change.
Nora and Margo take on to another level! The idea of writing letters inspires us to readily apply our 21st century knowledge at our fingertips effectively and purposefully.
Understanding our emerging interest in engaging a keyboard to type messages to Earth, Nora practices typing. In this learning experience, Nora exhibits her developing cognitive skills like memory, focus, and spatial awareness.

By learning to type, we enhance our ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail. In other words, typing is more than simply hitting the keys; it is a route to improved cognitive skills and language growth.
Acknowledging this route and considering typing is a gateway to endless options, we invite Margo to compose her poetic language. She, unhesitatingly, delivers her poetic expression while typing the letters on the keyboard.

The above piece exhibits how rich and complex and with exposure, we are developing our language skills, increasing critical thinking, and fostering creativity. We choose to be focusing on the fostering of creativity. With poetry, we are able to express our unique perspectives, emotions, and thoughts in a creative way.
As part of our group discussion we intentionally includes this video clip titled A Time to Change. This video clip is dramatized by children that imagine they are sending a  message from the future as a concern about taking care of our planet.
In response to the above provocation, Margo expresses she will bring a pick-up tool and she will help everyone to have their garbage in a bin. We see our growing awareness of environmental care, and our ability to take practical actions.
Felix says, I am scared because the trash are going into their mouths and then animals will die". He displays a deep empathy for animals, and an understanding of people's actions.
We are so excited to bring ideas and thoughts about helping the planet. Brooks talks about turning off the lights. And Felix says We need to turn off of the lights at nights to sleep, and after the morning we can turn on the lights.
As Vivaan shares an amazing idea of another way to help our planet, he proposes to create a trash bin and put it in a our neighborhood. This thought has inspired a meaningful group project. We value our ideas and we continue fostering our active participation in the world around us.
Enjoying our summer makes us being grateful to the many trees around us. We definitely seize the opportunity to soak up the sun and enjoy precious moments with friends amidst the beauty of nature.
Kindest,
Children & Friends.
