Without doubt Love You Forever by Robert Munsch tenderly captures the depth, persistence, and selfless nature of a parent’s love for their child. Through its simple, repetitive language and evolving scenes, the story mirrors real life stories of how love grows, adapts, and endures across time.

At the beginning of the story, friends understand how parent’s love is expressed through caregiving and protection. The parent’s actions like rocking, singing, and soothing reflect a love rooted in responsibility, patience, and devotion.
Luka loves singing the song while gently rocking his body. The melody takes on a unique and heartfelt quality as he sings it with deep emotion.
As the story moves forward, Luka sees the boy growing into a man and moving house as a reflection of time passing.
Likewise, Dhanika expresses her understanding of time passing by recognizing the change in hair color.
Luka responds enthusiastically to an intentional invitation during the reading of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom 1-2-3. As we reach the very last page, he shows strong interest and focus, eagerly counting the two-digit numbers in sequence. Luka carefully follows along, demonstrating emerging number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, and growing confidence with numbers beyond ten. His engagement reflects both his curiosity and readiness to extend his numeracy skills through shared story experiences.
Dhanika demonstrates a strong sense of interest and motivation when a keyboard is place in front of her. With visible excitement, she presses the letter keys, pausing at times as she considers the message she likes to type. As she explores the keyboard, Dhanika shows curiosity and persistence, experimenting with letters while forming meaning through her actions.
This experience is also made especially meaningful as Emily takes on the role of sending a message to the animal rescue center. Knowing that her words will be shared with an audience gives her a clear sense of purpose and responsibility. She engages confidently in this task, showing an early understanding that written language is a powerful tool for communication and connection.
This learning experience supports Dhanika and Emily's emerging literacy progress, particularly letter recognition, early writing behaviors, and the concept that symbols and letters carry meaning.
While looking through a book about a veterinary hospital, Anthony pauses and shows genuine concern for a sick sea turtle. He carefully observes the images and shares his feelings, expressing empathy toward the turtle and its situation. His response reflects an emerging understanding of care, compassion, and the emotions of others.

This moment demonstrates Anthony's growing social-emotional progress, as he connects the story real-life experiences and shows sensitivity toward living beings. Through shared reading, Anthony uses language and emotional expression to make meaning of what he sees, strengthening both empathy and understanding of the world around him.
Anthony and Luka discover an opportunity to transform themselves into sea turtles through imaginative play. Anthony initiates the idea by placing a cushion on his back, creatively representing a turtle's shell. His thoughtful use of materials demonstrates symbolic thinking and problem-solving.
Almost instantly, Luka recognizes the richness of Anthony's idea and eagerly adopts it himself. The shared action becomes a collaborative experience, with both of them embodying their roles through movement, and joyful engagement. Together, Anthony and Luka negotiate meaning, extend one another's ideas, and co-construct their play.
By participating in a real-life communication task, we strengthen our confidence, agency, and a sense of contribution within the community. Our willingness to explore, try, and persist reflects growing independence and self-esteem.
We creating a large animal habitat using recycled newspaper. We gently tear newspaper into pieces and glue them onto a base to form mountains, land, and water. This quickly becomes a collaborative experience. Friends guide one another, share space, and discuss where different parts of the habitat shall go.

I observe ourselves negotiating placement, helping peers, and taking pride in contributing to a shared project. This process encourages cooperation and allows ourselves to begin thinking about how different environments exist within one habitat.
Once our habitat dries, we return to it with paint. We carefully paint the land, mountains, and water, choosing colors that reflect our understanding of the natural world. Some of us mix colors, while others focus on specific areas we feel responsible for.

This step allows us to slow down, observe our work, and add detail. It also gives us a sense of ownership over the habitat we  have created together.
Later in the week, we make our own kinetic sand. We immediately bring the animals into our play, using the sand to create stories and environments.

Rebecca shows us how her animals are playing in the sand.
Emily explains that her animals are hiding inside the sand. Through this sensory experience, we demonstrate imaginative thinking and a deeper understanding of how animals interact with our surroundings.
Using our hands, we engage in a rich sensory experience as cornstarch, sand, and water are combined to create a muddy texture. We explore how the mixture changes in feel and consistency, strengthening fine-motor skills while experimenting, observing, and making sense of cause and effect.

To extend our understanding, we connect this experience to the lives of animals. We imagine how animals may feel when stuck in mud and express these ideas through our drawings. This allow us to translate sensory exploration into creative representation, deepening both our empathy and understanding of the natural world.

Our learning journey continue with a field trip. which has become a highlight of our exploration. Visiting rescued animals give us a real-life context to connect with our earlier learning experiences. inspiring curiosity, care, and a sense of responsibility toward living creatures.
Through these learning experiences, we explore sensory feelings, express imagination and empathy, and strengthen our understanding of the world around us.

Kindest,
Children & Friends.
